ABOUT

Village to Village is a specialized trail development firm with a team of experienced and innovative professionals who believe trails are platforms for adventures that transform the world.

V2V a network of consultants who love trails. All of us started off as hikers, travelers, dreamers, and storytellers, and those capacities inform our work now as trail developers. We know that the experience of hiking a trail emerges from much more than simply defining a route and posting some signs. V2V work with our clients to imagine a meaningful and impactful trail experience, built around a powerful idea, that sustains communities and energizes people.

V2V has expertise in one or more specialized areas of trail development, from strategic planning to mapping to marketing and web design. For any project, we can assemble a team whose collective experience covers every dimension of the work. For more information, contact us.

David Landis, President/Founder
David has worked with trail development projects around the world since 2007. He is a founder of the Jesus Trail, which is often described as “the Camino of the Middle East” and oversaw every process of its development, from research to fieldwork to photography and publicity. He has visited more than 70 countries and has hiked and cycled tens of thousands of miles of trails around the world. He is experienced in project management, having developed more than 2,000 kilometers of trails in five countries in the Middle East through his work as Regional Director of the Abraham Path. He has managed staff and developed relationships with local partner organizations, and through his work with Village to Village Press, has produced popular maps and guidebooks that have expanded markets for existing trails, including the Camino de Santiago. Starting in 2019, David has been deeply involved in trail design in China, including the Xuefeng Mountain Trail in Hunan province. Since 2021, David has been supporting the development of the Zagros Mountain Trail in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. David has served as vice-chair of the WTN Hub for the Americas. His recent obsession is long-distance unpaved bikepacking, including the Trans-Virginia Bikepacking Route, which he has developed near his base in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

“There is no one who has had a more profound and long-term impact on the sustainable development and promotion of hiking trails in the Middle East than David Landis. His contribution has been unique and lasting.” Stefan Szepesi, Executive Director, Abraham Path Initiative
