WHAT WE DO

Village to Village works in developing destinations where trails have the most potential. V2V builds branded trail experiences around stories, connections, and causes that resonate with trail users and local stakeholders.

V2V’s holistic approach to designing trails includes the following services:

Strategic Planning

V2V starts with a trail-based tourism idea and we evaluate brand potential and marketability through visiting sites, identifying trail stakeholders, and reporting on the likely impact of the project.

Developing Local Project Partners

Sustainable trails depend on local buy-in. V2V identifies and equips organizations and businesses that will invest in the long-term viability of the trail.

Trail Scouting

V2V makes thorough studies of maps, explore possible routes in the field, collect GIS data, and engage local communities in order to determine the best possible trail route.

Information

V2V produces practical information that makes the trail accessible, including maps, safety information, online resources, and guidebooks.

Infrastructure

V2V facilitates any necessary upgrades to the trail itself for safety and sustainability, including grading, waymarking, signage, access to critical services, and so on.

Service Development

V2V supports the development of services for trail users, including guiding, transportation, food, and accommodation, as well as safety-related services, such as search and rescue and wilderness first aid.

Marketing and Promotion

V2V integrates the trail project into local, regional, and national tourism strategies, connect the trail with media outlets, and make the trail visible to target audiences.

Training and Workshops

We offer training to organizations interested in developing their own trail development capacity, or in learning more about integrating trails into larger tourism projects.

We also provide services that enable and facilitate trail creation, including:

  • Technical Assistance
  • Project Management
  • Institutional Donor Compliance
  • Monitoring and Evaluation Reporting
  • Grant Writing and Research (to connect local trail champions and organizations with funding sources)
