Route development for a 300-mile mixed surface gravel cycling loop connecting eight county memorials to families displaced by the creation of Shenandoah National Park in the 1930s; website development, written content, photography, GIS & digital mapping, printed promotional flyer, marketing plan, supported by Greene County and Rockingham County.
Zagros Mountain Trail
Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Strategic planning, scouting and route-finding, working with local communities and stakeholders, developing GIS content including maps, trail audit report, member first thru-hike of Zagros Mountain Trail in 2022; supported by Abraham Path Initiative in partnership with the ZMT team in Erbil.

Tajikistan Trails Strategic Planning

Assessment of existing trails and routes, strategic recommendations for future sustainable trail-based tourism development, strategic analysis of opportunities for community-grants to support trail projects; supported by the Republic of Tajikistan Tourism and the World Bank.
Xuefeng Mountain Trail

Strategic planning, scouting and route-finding, working with local communities and stakeholders, developing trail content including maps, GIS, photography and route information; in partnership with Trails China, supported by Make It China and Hunan Tourism.
Jordan Trail
Jordan
Strategic planning, route-finding, scouting, working with local communities, developing guidebook content including maps and photography, website development, trail audit report, taught first WFA course and trained Jordanian WFA instructor, did first thru-hike of Jordan Trail, advised on business plan; supported by USAID-funded BEST Project, managed by Chemonics, in cooperation with Jordan Trail Association.
Palestine Heritage Trail
Formerly known as the Masar Ibrahim al-Khalil
Palestine, West Bank
Participated in various dimensions of establishing the longest contiguous route for Palestinian movement (more than 300 km) across the West Bank, including Wilderness First Aid training, developing topographical maps and written web content, training local guides, and drafting and implementing a waymarking plan; in cooperation with Masar Ibrahim al-Khalil, Rozana Association, Siraj Center, Palestine Wildlife Society, Bethlehem University; supported by World Bank, USAID, AFD, Abraham Path Initiative, DAI.
Jesus Trail
Galilee region of Israel
Initiated and oversaw every dimension of development for a cultural walking route following the footsteps of Jesus across the Galilee region, connecting Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities; work included strategic trail planning, route-finding, mapping, waymarking, guidebook and self-guided tours, publicity and marketing, and helping local people start trail-related businesses.
Camino de Santiago
Spain, Portugal, France, Italy
Published a series of hiking and travel guidebooks and web resources, helped to expand markets (in 2017, more than 300,000 people walked the last 100 kilometers) and make route more accessible for English-speaking pilgrims and travelers; supported by Village to Village Press.
TransVirginia Bike Route
Virginia (USA)
Developed and mapped a 550 mile (885km) mostly gravel bicycle touring route from Washington DC to Damascus, VA utilizing country roads, National Forest roads, and rail trails. Initiated an annual self-supported “Grand Depart” bikepacking endurance ride, networked local partners in government, private sector, and nonprofits; supported by Village to Village Press.
Sinai Trail
Egypt
Participated in scouting and recording route during first thru-hike, coordinated mapmaking efforts, assisted in strategic planning and fundraising; initiated and sustained by Tarabin, Muzaina, and Jabaliya Bedouins in the Sinai Peninsula.
Hazreti Ibrahim Yolu
Turkey
Mapped route from Yuvacali to Urfa and Harran, and the Mt. Nemrut region, worked with local communities, helped find route, developed relationships with homestay providers, photographed the trail; in coordination with Culture Routes Society in Turkey.
Ramallah Highlands Trail
Palestine, West Bank
Helped find best possible route for a Palestinian cultural and architectural heritage trail around Ramallah, photographed trail and edited trail guidebook; funded by Euromed, in coordination with the Riwaq Association. View guidebook PDF.
